Urban Company on Tuesday announced that it will onboard more than 100 engineers in FY2022. It is an on- demand home service provider company. It has declared appointment of two senior executives as a part of its aim to accelerate growth. A statement said that the new appointment will boost Urban company’s effort to invest and attract world class leadership – part of its ongoing focus to drive accelerated growth.
The statement further added, “Urban Company will onboard more than 100 engineers in FY2022. It plans to drive technological innovation in the home service industry through these new hires.”
Amit Das has been appointed as the company’s vice president in design and research. He has 10 years experience in industry and has worked with e-commerce organizations cuddle.ai, Fab.com, and Housing.com. In the past, he was also associated with Urban company and was instrumental in framing the company’s design foundations. At present, he will be in charge of product, research, and design.
Urban company has also named Rishabhdhwaj Singh as its vice president (engineering). He too has over a decade’s experience and has worked with Ajio (B2B) and Flipkart. The statement stated that he will be responsible for engineering solutions to ensure seamless quality control, training and onboarding of partners on platforms. He will lead the supply vertical, will focus on expanding the company’s warehousing capabilities and build a robust supply chain engine.
Raghav Chandra co-founder of Urban Company said, “These hiring will drive our next growth phase, enable to build a deep tech and help us invest in data science and developing tech playbooks.” He further added, “They will (Das and Singh) will play a pivotal role in strengthening Urban company’s design and engineering capabilities as we drive our mission of transforming home services worldwide.”
The company had also set up its second office in Bengaluru in March 2021. Earlier, the company revealed that it has raised around USD 255 million in funding at a valuation of USD 2.1 billion.
On the second office in Bengaluru, Urban Company co-founder Varun Khaitan explained that the new head office will make it easier for the talent in the city to join the company and boost its efforts of building a top class team. He said, “We have aggressive hiring plans this year and the location will be open for roles across teams. The past year has also helped the organization build a strong muscle of working in a distributed team.” He further added, “Encouraged by this, several current team members including folks in senior leadership team have chosen to move cities to be in Bangalore.”
