On 7th June 2021, the Income Tax Department will launch a new e-filing portal. The new portal “www.incometax.gov.in” seeks to facilitate its taxpayers with ease and convenience. The portal has released several new features too that would be integrated with immediate processing of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for quick refund issuance.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes on its statement in Saturday assured that the portal will be “a modern, seamless experience” to its taxpayers. “New taxpayer friendly portal is integrated with immediate processing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) to issue quick refunds to taxpayers.” it added. Successive, to the initial launch of the portal, it confirmed that a mobile app too will be launched to allow its taxpayers to get accustomed with the various features.
The Central Board of Direct taxes explained the features of the new portal, stating :
“All interaction and uploads or pending actions will be displayed on a single dashboard for follow up action by taxpayer.”
“Free of cost ITR preparation software available with interactive questions to help taxpayers ITR 1,4 (Online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline) to begin with.” It said that the facility for preparation of ITR 3,5, 6. 7 will be made available shortly.
The board also assured that the taxpayers will be able to proactively update their profile to provide certain detail of income including salary, house/property, business/profession which will be used to prefilling their ITR. Once the TDS and SFT statements are uploaded, detailed enablement of Pre filling with salary, income, interest, dividend and capital gains will be available. (due date is June 30th,2021)
It too informed that the new call center for taxpayers assistance for prompt response to taxpayer queries. Detailed FAQ, User manual, Videos and chatbot /live agent are also provided.
Functionalities for filling Income Tax Forms, Add tax professionals, Submit responses to Notices in Faceless Scrutiny or Appeals would also be available, it added.
Following the advance tax installment date, the new tax payment system will be launched on 18th June,2021 to avoid inconvenience of the taxpayers, it clarified.
