India and China looks forward to maintain stability at LAC

On Friday, almost after three months, the 22nd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) took place. According to the reports, India and China have decided to maintain ‘stability on the ground and prevent any untoward incident’ in the border area of the eastern Ladakh.

According to a MEA news release, both the sides have agreed to organize the next (12th) round of the Senior Commander’s meeting at an early date to attain the objective of complete disengagement from all the fiction point along with the LAC in the Western Sector as per the existing bilateral agreements and protocols.

As per reports, the two sides had a frank exchange of views on the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the western sector of the India-China Border. The sides have accepted the call to come to an resolution about the remaining issues in the eastern Ladakh considering the agreement reached between the two Foreign Minister in September 2020.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, on these above grounds both the sides have agreed to maintain dialogue and communication through the diplomatic and military mechanism to achieve a mutually acceptable solution for complete disengagement from all the fiction points so as to ensure full restoration of peace and tranquillity to enable progress in bilateral relations. It further stated that the two sides have agreed that in the interim, they will carry on to ensure stability on the grounds and prevent untoward incidents.

The Indian delegation was led by Additional Secretary (East Asia) from the Ministry of External Affairs. On the other hand the Chinese delegation was led forward by the Director General of the Boundary & Oceanic Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
