Rahul Dravid, the newly appointed chief coach of Team India, is known for his perfection. Though team India already won the 3 match T20 series against New Zealand with its 2 wins and the third being scheduled today, Rahul Dravid isn’t permitting a clean-sweep slide from his clutch.
After reaching the Kolkata airport, Rohit Sharma and others headed straight to the hotel whereas Dravid hurried to Eden Gardens to examine the pitch and speak to the curator.
The last international match was played at the Eden Gardens pitch in 2019 when India beat Bangladesh and since then no International match and hardly any domestic match have been played. India was scheduled to play against South Africa in an ODI in March last year. However, the match was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Along with batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, Rahul Dravid hustled to Eden Gardens directly from the airport to inspect the pitch and to speak to Eden Garden’s chief curator Sujan Mukherjee.
Though Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman are called the adopted sons of Eden Gardens for their notable display in the Test match against Australia in 2001, this will be the first time he will be stepping into the pitch as a coach.
