Indian government procures paddy worth Rs 92,120.85 crore amid the ongoing farmer’s protest

The Food Corporation of India & state agencies have procured around 487.92 lakh tonnes of paddy in kharif marketing which is up by 25% and cost around Rs. 92,121 crore till Dec 31. The Kharif marketing season begins in October. Last year the government bought 390.56 lakh tonnes.

Around 62.28 lakh farmers has been benefited from the ongoing procurement with MSP value of Rs. 92,120.85 crore. Out of which Punjab has contributed 202.77 lakh tonnes i.e., 41.55% of the total purchase.
