Indian Olympic Association appoints ex-IPL official Raghuram Iyer as CEO

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) named former Rajasthan Royals official Raghuram Iyer as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on Friday, a year after it was due and despite multiple reminders from the IOC.

According to the IOA, Iyer was appointed CEO after a “meticulous selection process conducted by the nomination committee”.

“After careful consideration and thorough interviews with the shortlisted candidates, the nomination committee unanimously selected Mr Raghuram Iyer for the role of CEO,” the IOA said in a statement.

“His wealth of experience and proven track record in sports management and administration makes him an ideal candidate to lead the IOA in its mission to promote and develop Olympic sports in India,” it said.

The CEO will serve on the Executive Council as an ex-officio member with no voting rights. He is a salaried official, not an elected member.

Before this, Iyer was the CEO of the Rising Pune Supergiants and the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
