Indian origin student buried alive by ex-boyfriend in Australia over revenge

An Indian-origin woman was murdered in Australia with brutality at the hands of her ex-boyfriend who tied her with cables and buried her alive. During a court proceeding, the prosecutor said that the 21-year-old Jasmine Kaur, a nursing student from India, was killed in an act of revenge by the accused, Tarikjot Singh. Prosecutors claimed that the accused killed his ex-girlfriend as he could not handle the failure of their relationship. The victim’s mother Rashpaul Singh also claimed that the accused was obsessed with her daughter, despite her refusing him “one hundred times.”

As per the reports by 9News, the accused kidnapped Kaur from her workplace in Adelaide and drove 4 hours with her being kept in the car’s boot. Later, her body was discovered with limbs tied by cables in a shallow grave in the Flinders Ranges.

Singh was accused of kidnapping and killing Kaur in March 2021. He pleaded guilty to the murder in February this year.

Prosecutor Carmen Matteo, while speaking about the crime, stated, it involved an “uncommon level of cruelty.” He added that the victim has consciously suffered ‘absolute terror’ of breathing in and swallowing soil and dying that way.

Kaur’s mother said that she would never forgive the accused for his crime. The court has reportedly awarded the accused life-term imprisonment.
