Indian women boxers clinched five gold medals at Youth World Boxing Championships

Indian Women boxers have put up an outstanding performance at the 2021 AIBA Youth Men’s and Women’s World Boxing Championship in Kielce, Poland on Thursday (April 22). The women have clinched in total five gold medals at the tournament.

Gititka (48kg), Naorem Babyrojisana Chanu (51kg), Poonam (57kg), Vinka (60kg) and Arundhati Choudhary (69kg) finished on the top of the table.

By securing this, Indian Women have equalled their previous record of 2017 edition of Youth World Championship at Guwahati.

The Haryana boxer Gitika gave a good start to the game by defeating two-time European Champion Italy’s Erika Prisciandaro. She also beated the local favourite Natalia Kuczewska (5-0) and secured first gold medal for India.

Furthermore, Babyrojisana and Poonam further continued the winning momentum by clinching two gold medals in their categories. Babyrojisana defeated Russian Valeriia Linkova and Poonam outclassed Sthelyne Grosy. Both of them didnt allow their opponent to score a single point as they acheived their victory by 5-0.
