The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India has crossed 84 lakh, while the number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 77.65 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.32 per cent. The number of active cases of COVID-19 remained below 6 lakh for the eighth consecutive day thanks to a sustained fall in the mortality rate and a large number of patients recovering from the disease daily.
