Infosys COO confirms that e-filing portal glitches are resolved

Earlier, on the day of launch of Infosys’s new e-filing portal, several reports surfaced on its technical glitches. On this regard, the company’s COO UB Pravin Rao confirmed that the several technological glitches that were raised initially in the Infosys’s new Income tax e-filing portal have been resolved over the last week. He further revealed that nearly a lakh returns have been filed as yet.

He explained that the new features are being established in the portal and that led to a trouble in certain operations namely, e-procurement. He asserted that these interruptions will be looked into in the coming few weeks.

Pravin Rao is reported to meet the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman scheduled on June 22. Ahead of this meeting, Mr. Rao during the company’s 40th annual general meeting held on June 19 responded to the queries of nearly half a dozen shareholders on the ground of its technical glitches in the new income Tax e-filing portal.

The new e-filing portal went live on the night of June 7 subsequently ran into glitches. This causality led several users to complain about the matter through the tweets tagging the Finance Minister.

Pravin Rao clarified, “Over the last week several of the technology glitches that impacted the performance and stability of the portal have been addressed and as a result we have observed lakhs of daily unique users in the portal.” Furthermore, he explained that as the new functions were established in the complex platform they have observed concern related to filing forms, e- proceedings among the other operations. He added that the project team is involved to resolve this and to ensure seamless experience for its users.

Along with settling the inconvenience that occurred in the e-filing portal, Pravin Rao expressed that they are looking forward to working with all the stakeholders over the following few weeks to make sure that all the inputs and feedback are looked into.

In the year 2019, Infosys were awarded the contract following the bidding process with a cost of around Rs 4,242 crore. The objective of the project was to establish the next generation income tax filing system to minimize processing time for returns from 63 days to one day and also to expedite refunds.

After the Finance Minister raised concern about the issue on June 8, Nandan Nilekani, chairman of Infosys assured that the company is looking into to resolve the dispute. In the tweet, he wrote, “The new e-filing portal will ease the filing process and enhance end user experience @nsitharam ji, we have observed some technical glitches on day one and are working to resolve them. @ Infosys regrets these initial glitches and expects the system to stabilize during the week.”
