Lionel Messi was at last introduced in front of a sell-out crowd at Inter Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium, as fans travelled to Florida to witness the ‘greatest number 10 in the world’.
The official Twitter account of Major League Soccer (MLS) dropped a video of the announcer calling Messi ‘America’s number ten’ and the best in the world to a huge roar from the crowd as Messi stepped out in front of the Inter Miami fans for the first time.
On Monday morning, club co-owners Jose R Mas, Jorge Mas and David Beckham stepped onto a stage to officially welcome Messi as an Inter Miami player.
After receiving his number 10 jersey, the Argentine World Cup winner thanked the fans and expressed excitement for the new project, stating he is expecting “great things.”
Following the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, Messi signed a highly expensive deal to stay until the end of the 2025 season.
