Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku wins Serie A’s MVP award of the year

Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku was named Serie A’s player of the year after helping the Nerazzurri win their 19th Italian title and first since 2009-10. The Belgian International has 24 goals and 11 assists in the league. Cristiano Ronaldo was named the greatest attacker after scoring 29 league goals this season, making him the season’s leading scorer.

Lukaku inspired Inter to end Juventus’ stranglehold on the domestic scene. Conte has subsequently resigned and is expected to be replaced by former SS Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi, with Fabrizio Romano predicting that Lukaku would play an important role in the new tactician’s plans.

Lukaku is rumored with a move to Chelsea, however, it seems less likely after his meeting with Inzaghi. However, Inter does need to sell some big-name players. The list can include Achraf Hakimi and Lautaro Martinez.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea attacker took to social media to express his gratitude to Conte and his teammates for their contributions to him winning the best overall award.

Lukaku will now represent Belgium in Euros this summer, with Inter’s roster set to look considerably different when he returns, with big changes expected due to the Italian champions’ dismal financial situation. Belgium might face difficulties if Kevin Debruyne is unavailable after his injury during the UCL final against Chelsea.
