2. His early life:

Memphis attempted to escape his damaged home by playing football, a sport at which he excelled. His first steps as a footballer were taken at his hometown club, Moordrecht. But it was not the end of his woes, as Memphis Depay’s childhood quickly deteriorated when his mother moved in with their next-door neighbour, contrary to his expectations.

He became the youngest ever Dutch player to score in a FIFA World Cup at the age of 20 years and four months when he netted against Australia in the group stage.

5. Meaning behind his tattoo:

He has a tattoo of his granddad that spans his entire chest. Depay stated: “That man gave me a lot of courage and took excellent care of me. At that moment, I told myself, “I’ve got to go for it.” I know exactly where I want to go, and it is to the top.”

Currently, Memphis is preparing for the Euros with the Netherlands and hopes to bring the trophy home. He’s rumoured to make a move to FC Barcelona for free before the Euros start. Imagine Depay, Messi, and Griezmann linking up ahead. Depay received many offers but is adamant about moving to Barcelona because of his relationship with club manager Ronald Koeman.
