IPL 2021:  Ashwin take a break from IPL to support his family over COVID-19

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has cleared to take his name from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) as he wants to support his family to fight against COVID-19.

This season he is playing for the Delhi Capitals Franchise in the IPL. He also confirmed if things will be in the right direction, he’ll back again.

On Sunday night, Ashwin posted on Twitter, “I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you Delhi Capitals”

Delhi Capitals supported the decision of Ashwin and pray for his family.

DC posted just after Ashwin’s tweet, “Extending our full support to you in these difficult times,  Sending you and your family all the strength and prayers from all of us at Delhi Capitals”

India is witnessing an acute shortage of oxygen with the country reporting more than 3 lakh COVID-19 cases daily for the last few days.
