IPL 2021: Kane Williamson hits 16th IPL fifty

Kane Williamson brought up his 16th IPL fifty against Delhi Capitals on Sunday at MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Chasing 160 on a tough wicket SRH lost Warner early but Bairstow and Williamson put up a partnership for SRH to walk through the target but Bairstow departed after scoring 38 and Williamson was the lone fighter scoring at a good pace on a tough spinning wicket.

Williamson scored seven boundaries in the process to bring up his fifty in the 17th over off the bowling of Avesh Khan in 42 balls. Williamson didn’t play in the first three games of the IPL and this is his first fifty of the season.

Williamson had no support from the middle order as no one hung around for him or rotated the strike to give Kiwi batsman more chance to win the game. In the end, though he got a cameo from Suchith which helped his heroics and got the match till the super over (first of the season).
