Social media banters are part and parcel of everyone’s life and more often than not we get to see such banters from our favorite team/players and the fans are left in splits.
One such banter that happened between RCB and PBKS occurred on the very first day of IPL 2021.
Glenn Maxwell has hit his first six in IPL after 171 balls across 19 innings and 1079 days. His last six was off Mitchell Johnson in Delhi on 27 April 2018. Social media exploded by the news after he hit his first six and people started pouring messages. This incident prompted the banter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) social media handles on Friday.
Glenn Maxwell last played for Punjab in IPL 2020 and could only score 108 runs from 13 games at a strike rate of 101.88 with 32 being his highest score. However, Maxwell was in top form in the opening game for RCB against Mumbai where he scored 39 runs of 28 balls at a strike rate of 154.24.
At no. 4, the Australian all-rounder played a wonderful inning and scored 39 runs off 28 balls. In the 11th over of them match Maxwell has hit Krunal Pandya for a massive six which landed on the stadium’s roof over long-on.
RCB’s Twitter page did not waste any time and thanked PBKS for releasing Glenn Maxwell on Twitter ahead of the IPL auction 2021. PBKS also thanked RCB for releasing Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz, Mayank Aggarwal.
Aww and thank you for Gayle, KL, Mandy, Sarfaraz, Mayank… 🤗#SaddaPunjab #IPL2021 #PunjabKings
