IPL 2025-27 retention rules: ₹120 crore auction purse, ₹75 crore cap for retaining five players

The IPL 2025-2027 player retention rules bring significant updates. Each team’s auction purse has been increased to ₹120 crore. For retaining players, franchises can spend up to ₹75 crore on five key players, which includes specific retention prices:

1. **Player 1:** ₹18 crore
2. **Player 2:** ₹14 crore
3. **Player 3:** ₹11 crore
4. **Player 4:** ₹18 crore
5. **Player 5:** ₹14 crore

Additionally, retaining an uncapped player costs ₹4 crore.

### Key Rule:
– The retention deduction for these five players is capped at ₹75 crore. If the combined salaries of the retained players exceed this limit, only ₹75 crore is deducted from the team’s auction purse. If it’s less, then the exact amount will be deducted.

This retention structure offers teams a balanced budget for star players while allowing more flexibility with the enhanced auction purse.
