Is Amber Heard in Aquaman 2?

Later this year, James Wan will return to the director’s chair to continue telling the story of Arthur Curry and his underwater alter ego in the Aquaman trilogy, bringing Jason Momoa back to our screens as the film’s titular nautical hero.

When Aquaman debuted in 2018 and made over $1bn at the box office, it was somewhat of a surprise among DC films. Momoa rose to fame as a result of the role; this year, he will join the Fast and Furious group. He will also be reuniting with his Aquaman 2 co-stars for the film’s December release.

Amber Heard, who played the Atlantean princess Mera in the first Aquaman film, is one of these co-stars. There have been many theories concerning Heard’s participation in Aquaman 2, so will she be there and what will her part be in the upcoming film?

Heard said that the turmoil surrounding her legal action was the reason her role in Aquaman 2 had been cut during the defamation suit she faced in 2022. Variety reports that DC Films President Walter Hamada said during the trial that the studio did contemplate recasting her, but that decision was made more because of her alleged lack of chemistry with Momoa than because of the legal issues.

Now, however, we are aware that Heard will participate in Aquaman 2 before the DC Universe is updated as part of the Chapter 1 Gods and Monsters plan by new DC head James Gunn.
