The Government of India has issued a warning regarding a fake message which is circulating on social media platforms. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact check has also issued a warning & an advisory to the users to be aware of such fake messages.
What is the Fake message?
A WhatsApp message is getting viral which claims that the Government of India is tracking all the messages & calls.
The viral fake message claims-
- WhatsApp has introduced a new update with modification in the tick system wherein there will be 3 red ticks on a message which means that the Government of India has taken action against you & you will be summoned to the court.
- 2 blue ticks & 1 red tick means that government can take action against you.
- 3 blue ticks mean the government has taken a note.
- 1 blue tick & 2 red tick means that the government has screen your data.
- Your device will be connected to the government ministry.
Apart from all these phoney claims, the message also describes that these updates are introduced by Whatsapp after the new IT rule which came into effect on 26 May 2021.
This false message was trending on various social media platforms. The government has not initiated any such actions against users privacy. Social Media has benefitted a lot but also has some negative effects like this fake message.
