Is The Batman 2 Delayed Until 2027?

The Batman 2 won’t be hitting theaters until 2027, and director Matt Reeves has shed some light on the production process, revealing that the film’s release has been delayed by two more years. Speaking with Deadline at the Golden Globes in January 2025, Reeves explained that while filming will begin this year, it will take a couple more years to finalize everything and deliver the movie to audiences.

Reeves was tight-lipped about specific plot details but teased that the story will continue from where the first film left off, though he hopes to surprise viewers with the direction it takes. Warner Bros. had originally slated the film for an October 2026 release, but they have now pushed it to October 1, 2027, citing the extensive use of advanced technology and VFX as the reason for the delay.

In the meantime, The Batman‘s spinoff series The Penguin has been making waves, winning a Golden Globe for Best Male Actor with Colin Farrell taking home the prize. As for the movie itself, Reeves has expressed his desire to complete a trilogy, but fans will have to be patient for the next chapter.
