You probably already know that Colleen Hoover, a romance novelist, has taken #BookTok by storm unless you’ve been living under a rock. After her book It Ends With Us went viral on TikTok and had 2 billion combined views, it became the best-selling book of 2022 and made Hoover America’s top-selling novelist.
Since 2019, with Justin Baldoni taking up the director’s chair, work has been quietly progressing on a big-screen version of the book. But it was revealed on January 26 2023 that Baldoni, whose drama film directing accomplishments include Five Feet Apart and Clouds, will also be co-starring in the movie with Blake Lively.
Given their success in TV shows like Jane the Virgin and Gossip Girl, it is obvious that this swoon-inducing romantic film is in good hands.
It Ends With Us cast
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have already been cast as the movie’s two main characters, Lily Bloom and her lover, Dr. Ryle Kincaid.
Atlas Corrigan, Lily’s ex-boyfriend and another significant figure in the books, has yet to be cast in the movie.
It Ends With Us plot
We already have a good sense of the narrative because It Ends With Us is based on the novel of the same name.
Although the official synopsis for the new film has not yet been released, the one for the book is as follows: “Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.”
“As questions about her new relationship overwhelms her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.”
It Ends With Us Release date
It Ends With Us hasn’t had a release date set yet. Though it may not seem like it, behind-the-scenes work on this movie has been ongoing since Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios optioned it in 2019.
A first draft of the script was already finished, Baldoni hinted on Instagram in October 2021, and the director of the upbeat film disclosed that they were already doing script readings with ardent Hoover fans in July 2022.
The scripting process appears to be nearing completion, therefore casting the remainder of the cast and beginning production to appear to be the only remaining steps.
So, it is likely that the movie will be released in theatres sometime in 2024 after casting, filming, and post-production.
