Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx have rekindled their chemistry in the new Netflix action-comedy Back in Action, directed by Seth Gordon. The duo, who have previously worked together on Any Given Sunday (1999) and Annie (2014), bring their dynamic partnership to life once again in this film.
Gordon shared his excitement about the energy Diaz and Foxx brought to the set, calling their bond a “holy moment” of creativity. He emphasized how the actors supported each other throughout the process, with Foxx acting as Diaz’s biggest cheerleader and returning the favor in a “spiritual” way. Their camaraderie on set was so palpable that it inspired the filmmakers to shift the script to include more comedy and heartfelt moments, alongside the action.
The chemistry between the two stars was so natural that Gordon found himself wanting to dial back the action and focus more on the character-driven scenes, which added a refreshing layer to the movie. He remarked, “Whenever we got to do those scenes, it just breathed life into me and the crew.”
In Back in Action, Diaz and Foxx play former CIA spies, Emily and Matt, who are pulled back into the world of espionage as they face off against old enemies and put their spy skills to the test once more. The film, now available for streaming on Netflix, offers a perfect blend of action, comedy, and nostalgia, making it a fun watch for fans of both actors.
