Thalapathy Vijay announced his retirement from cinema at a recent occasion. His most recent film, Jana Nayagan, will be released in Hindi with dubbed soundtrack as Jana Neta. The political action drama, directed by H Vinoth, will be released on January 9, 2026, which coincides with the Pongal/Sankranthi festival. Unlike the other Thalapathy Vijay films, Jana Neta will have a well-planned release in North India.
According to reports, Jana Neta would be properly released in all Hindi-language multiplex chains. Zee Studios has acquired the distribution rights for North India. According to a recent poster published by officials, Jana Neta will be released in PVR Inox, Cinepolis, Miraj Cinemas, Rajhans Multiplex, Mukta Cinemas, Movietime Cinemas, Wave Cinemas, and other locations.
Previously, Leo and The Greatest Of All Time were released in Hindi, but only on single screens. These films were refused release in multiplex chains around the Hindi circuit because they did not adhere to the 8-week OTT window provision. This action reduced their box office potential in the Hindi markets by around 20 to 30 percent. For the record, Leo earned Rs. 30 crore, while The GOAT made roughly Rs. 20 crore in Hindi.
If these films had been released in numerous chains, they may have easily grossed Rs. 40-50 crore, if not more. Nonetheless, Jana Neta will provide a spectacular displaying in the North Indian markets, which is a good indicator from a business perspective. It now has the potential to surpass the lifetime collections of The GOAT and Leo in Hindi and establish a new record.
According to Pinkvilla Predicts, Jana Neta will have an opening between Rs. 1.5 crore and Rs. 3 crore, based on the current buzz in the North belt. Let’s wait until the trailer drops to see if the opening range increases.
