The much-awaited trailer of Param Sundari has dropped, showcasing Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s light-hearted chemistry, witty banter and a touch of southern charm that has left fans drawing parallels to Chennai Express.
The trailer opens with a breezy scene inside a church where the lead characters, Sundari from Kerala and Param from Delhi, exchange playful questions and subtle flirting. Sundari, played by Janhvi Kapoor, runs a guesthouse where Param, portrayed by Sidharth Malhotra, is staying. What begins as a guest-host interaction soon blossoms into a sweet romance, with plenty of hilarious exchanges along the way.
One of the standout moments is a comedic dialogue about the absence of a Malayalam dub for Baazigar, which immediately strikes a chord with cinephiles. But the most memorable highlight comes at the end, when Sundari delivers an animated outburst distinguishing the different southern film industries, Kerala’s Malayalam cinema with Mohanlal, Tamil Nadu’s Tamil cinema with Rajinikanth, Andhra’s Telugu cinema with Allu Arjun, and Karnataka’s Kannada cinema with Yash.
While some fans couldn’t help but compare the tone and flavour of the film to the 2013 hit Chennai Express, they also praised the freshness of the pairing and Janhvi’s spirited performance. The playful camaraderie between the leads, combined with peppy music and vibrant visuals, has created a strong first impression.
Reactions online range from amused appreciation to cautious optimism. One fan described it as “fresh vibe even though it has a Chennai express hangover.” Many also highlighted that Janhvi appears to be “doing the heavy lifting” in the dynamic. With its lively romance, colourful setting and engaging humour, Param Sundari promises a fun cinematic ride.
