Jennifer Lopez Gets Emotional As Judy Robles Praises Her Performance

Jennifer Lopez recently got emotional after receiving heartfelt praise from Judy Robles, the woman she portrays in the biopic Unstoppable. According to Reuters, the two women formed a strong bond while working on the project, particularly over their shared understanding of motherhood and its challenges.

Lopez, who plays Robles—the mother of wrestler Anthony Robles—expressed how deeply she connected with the struggles of being a mother. She reflected on the universal truth that “every human being makes mistakes,” but for mothers, there’s often immense pressure to present a perfect front for their children. “You’re always putting up this front of, ‘everything’s perfect’ and ‘everything’s OK,’ to protect your children and give them safety,” she shared.

The On The Floor singer also highlighted how women, especially mothers, often carry emotional burdens behind the scenes, a realization that helped her bring authenticity to her role.

Directed by William Goldenberg, Unstoppable features an ensemble cast including Jharrel Jerome, Michael Peña, Don Cheadle, Bobby Cannavale, Shawn Hatosy, Alex Barone, and Parker Sack. The film tells the inspiring true story of Anthony Robles, a wrestler born with one leg, with Jerome playing the lead role.

Produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024 and had a limited theatrical release on December 6, 2024. According to People magazine, it will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting January 16, 2025.
