Jerry Seinfeld denies ‘idiotic’ story against Jimmy Fallon: ‘Twisting of events’

Jerry Seinfeld is speaking out against a specific claim about the toxic work environment behind the scenes of Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show. After taking over Jay Leno’s late-night talk show, the Emmy winner had a lot of success until a new report surfaced with shocking claims of a toxic workplace environment and numerous incidents with his staff. One such incident involved comedian Jerry Seinfeld forcing Fallon to apologize to an employee  after criticizing them for flubbing holding their cue cards, which was described as “very awkward.”

Variety obtained a statement from Seinfeld addressing his reported incident shortly after the claims came to light and Fallon apologized to his staff. The comedian totally denies the employee’s characterization of the incident as “awkward” and “one of the strangest moments ever” in the report, recalling it as a more humorous moment. He said, “This is so stupid. I remember this moment quite well… I teased Jimmy about a flub, and we all had a fun laugh about how rarely Jimmy is thrown off. It was not uncomfortable at all. Jimmy and I still occasionally recall it and laugh. Idiotic twisting of events.”

The show is currently paused, as it has been since the beginning of the Writers Guild of America strike and Fallon has taken to Zoom to apologize to his workers. According to the workers, the apology was pretty sincere and he wanted to build an “inclusive” workplace for his staff.
