Jesse Lingard has been named Premier League Player of the Month for the month of April 2021. The Manchester United midfielder has thrived during his loan spell with West Ham United, ensuring David Moyes’ side remains in with a chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. The in-form England international has been on fire, scoring four goals in four games.
“It’s amazing,” Lingard said. “It’s the first time in my career that I’ve received this award and I’d obviously like to thank the fans for voting, my teammates and staff for helping me get there. It’s been a long road and I’ve been nominated the last two months and even getting nominated was a great feeling for me as I want to be up there with the best and competing for the best awards.”
“I definitely think I’m in the best form of my career. I’ve always wanted to work on consistency in my game and I think it’s come at a good time. Playing regular football always helps and I want to improve every game and try and help the team get as many wins as possible.”
On the other hand, Steve Bruce has scooped the Premier League’s Barclays manager of the month award for the month.
United drew away from the relegation zone and have since maintained their top-flight status. Bruce won the award ahead of Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa, Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Allardyce.
“For me to win is a reflection on the players and my staff. They work tirelessly, and without them, there’s no award to win,” said Bruce.
Currently, West Ham is 6th on the table, even though the Champions League spot is in doubt, we can be hopeful to see them play in the Europa. Meanwhile, Newcastle is safe from relegation and can move its focus to the next season.
