Jimmy Shergill, known for his journey from a “chocolate boy” image to portraying rugged characters, is set to surprise audiences with his role as a tough cop in Sikandar Ka Muqaddar. The actor’s portrayal of Inspector Jasvinder Singh, a man haunted by an unsolved case, has been described as vastly different from his real-life personality. Shergill shared that he learnt in life that letting go is important, but certain positive things do deserve obsession during a conversation about the film.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie also features Avinash Tiwary and Tamannaah Bhatia. Its trailer has received praise, especially for a line of dialogue about intuition delivered by Shergill’s character, which has gone viral. Reflecting on his career, Shergill admitted that mistakes were made when selecting films. “It was often attempted to support new directors, but sometimes compromises were noticed during filming,” he noted.
Shergill, who gained fame with Mohabbatein and Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, shared that the transition to grittier roles was intentional.”I felt that agar yahi naach-gana karta raha, 3-4 saal mein ghar pe baith jaunga” (if I continued doing this song and dance, I will be sitting at home in 3-4 years) he explained. His choices led to acclaimed performances in Haasil, Munnabhai MBBS, and Tanu Weds Manu.
Jimmy Shergill’s Sikandar Ka Muqaddar premieres on Netflix on November 29, promising fans another layer to his versatile career.
