Jodie Foster feels she’s in the “golden age” of her career after winning Best Female Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for True Detective: Night Country at the 2025 Golden Globes. In an interview following the award, Foster shared her thoughts on reaching a fulfilling point in her life, particularly for women in the industry. She explained that after a certain age, a metaphorical “hormone” kicks in, leading to greater self-satisfaction and diminishing the need for competition. Foster also mentioned fellow Golden Globe winner Demi Moore, who received her first-ever award for The Substance at 62, as an example of the positive changes that come with age.
Foster expressed her excitement about what lies ahead, saying, “I’m excited about what’s left of my life and who I’ve become that I can bring to the table.” She described this as the most contented moment in her career, emphasizing that she never could have imagined it. In her acceptance speech, Foster highlighted the importance of community support from her peers, giving a shoutout to fellow nominee Sofía Vergara.
On a more personal note, Foster revealed that her son, Charlie, is entering the entertainment industry. Foster, who shares Charlie and 23-year-old Christopher “Kit” with ex-partner Cydney Bernard, joked about the pressure her son might feel and advised him not to try to follow in her exact footsteps. She playfully advised, “What you do, make sure you put the little foam things you put them in before you put on the shoes. So that’s a good one,” encouraging him to be himself and take his time in navigating his career.
