The upcoming Scream 7 is shaping up to be another thrilling installment in the iconic horror franchise, with some exciting new additions to the cast. Joel McHale, known for his roles in Community and Yellowjackets, has officially joined the star-studded lineup. According to The Hollywood Reporter, McHale will be playing Mark Evans, the husband of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), who returns to the franchise after a brief absence due to salary disputes. McHale’s unique charm is expected to add an interesting dynamic to the film.
The film will be produced by Spyglass Entertainment and marks the return of Scream creator Kevin Williamson, who will direct the film alongside Guy Busick, who co-wrote the screenplays for Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023). The film is set for release on February 27, 2026, with Paramount Pictures distributing. Notably, Isabel May was originally set to play Sidney Prescott’s daughter, though her role has since changed.
Scream 7 will be produced by Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein, while Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (collectively known as Radio Silence) — who revitalized the franchise with Scream (2022) — will also contribute to the project.
The Scream franchise, which started with Wes Craven’s 1996 classic, has seen a resurgence, with Scream VI (2023) grossing $166.3 million at the global box office, further proving that the franchise is still a major player in the world of horror. Fans are eagerly anticipating what this new chapter will bring!
