The film Vedaa, starring John Abraham, had its lowest single-day box office since its premiere on Independence Day. While it had already failed the Monday benchmark by earning only Rs 1.5 crore, despite the fact that it was a holiday due to Raksha Bandhan, the picture saw a dip of more than 50% at the box office on Tuesday, collecting only Rs 60 lakh, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk.
Vedaa was directed by Nikkhil Advani and starred John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh. It competed with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2. The film’s underperformance can be due to the clash with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2. Vedaa’s domestic totals stood at Rs 16.1 crore. The John Abraham-starrer is trailing both Stree 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, with a six-day gross of Rs 17.15 crore.
Vedaa had an aggregate occupancy rate of only 15.60% across India. The film had 187 shows in Mumbai, with a 15.25% occupancy rate. With 232 showings, the picture had a 17.75% overall occupancy in the National Capital Region. The film has received limited screenings in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata.
Nikkhil Advani’s film is John Abraham’s third box office failure following Attack and Ek Villain Returns in 2022. Attack, which was supposedly produced on an 80 crore rupee budget, only brought in 22.07 crore globally. Similar to this, Sacnilk claims that Ek Villain Returns, which had a budget of between Rs 62 and Rs 80 crore, grossed Rs 68.64 crore globally.
