Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid defeated Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United 2-0 on Thursday in their pre-season tour in the United States, as Los Blancos and the Red Devils thrilled spectators in Texas, USA. The Spanish giants won thanks to an early score from Jude Bellingham and a fantastic overhead kick from Joselu.
At the start of the game, Bellingham used his left foot to control a lobbed ball from defender Antonio Rudiger at the outside of the area and lifted it over the head of the onrushing Manchester United debutant goalkeeper, Andre Onana.
United played a competitive side following their 3-1 loss to Wrexham United on Wednesday, in which ten Hag gave the team’s youngsters a run out during the pre-season exhibition.
Fullbacks Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw flanked the centre-back duo of Rafael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, while Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo started in the center of the park before Mainoo was replaced by Christian Erikson early on.
Madrid led by one goal at the end of the first half when Ancelotti chose to bring in reinforcements immediately out of the tunnel at the start of the second half.
In the 62nd minute, Madrid sent in Joselu to replace Rodrygo and the 33-year-old Spaniard left his mark on the game with a fantastic bicycle kick goal in the 89th minute to put the result beyond any doubt.
