Goa government issued a demand notice of Rs 156 crore to JSW Steel in form of Goa Rural Improvement and Welfare Cess. The notice was issued on November 9, which was later released on Monday. The Assistant Director compelled JSW Steel to pay the amount within a fortnight, violation for which could be two years imprisonment and penalisation of Rs 25,000. Government reported, the company failed to show cause notice on September 4, for non payment of cess for transporting coal to Mormugao Port Trust to plant site.
