Liverpool fans were in full form during the FA Cup fourth-round match against Norwich City, as an emotional Jurgen Klopp managed the Merseyside club once again after announcing his decision to leave at the end of the season.
Klopp was seen controlling his emotions before the match as ‘You Never Walk Alone,’ from the 1945 musical that is currently the club’s theme song, was sung before kickoff.
After that, Liverpool easily defeated 5-2 to advance to the FA Cup’s next round, with goals from Ryan Gravenberch, Virgil Van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunes and Curtis Jones.
During the post-game presentation, Klopp was asked about the reception he received. He replied, “It is (emotional) but my job is too. It’s not always easy but I have to pull myself together and I received all the messages the people sent, I’m not made of wood so I get all of these.”
He also added, “I said not too long ago, ‘Don’t sing the song during the game’ – people obviously stopped already listening to me, that’s good!”
Following their victory against Norwich, the club will now face Chelsea in the Premier League at Anfield. Fans, players, and managers will be eager to keep up their present form and finish the season on a good note.
