Justin Bieber hitting “Snooze” could make for SZA’s second top 5 hit

TikTok helps Mitski and Tate McRae hit some of their highest numbers in years with their respective new singles, while SZA’s second SOS hit benefits from a new acoustic version with a famous guest.

The swaying mid-album highlight from SZA’s blockbuster SOS, “Snooze,” has grown into the album’s second big  hit, after the Billboard Hot 100-topping “Kill Bill.” Following the release of its fascinating and star-studded music video, the song has already spent 13 weeks atop Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, and reached a new peak of No. 7 on the Hot 100 a few weeks ago (on the list dated Sept. 9). And now, owing to his inclusion on the song’s new acoustic version, one of those guest performers, pop sensation Justin Bieber, may help the song reach even higher on next week’s chart.

With the release of “Snooze (Acoustic)” on Friday (Sept. 15), the number of official on-demand U.S. streams for “Snooze” (which includes the new acoustic version) increased to 12.1 million for the four-day period of Sept. 15-18, up from 7.5 million streams the previous week (Sept. 8-11) — a 61% increase, as per Luminate. The following bump could give it a further boost of caffeine on the Hot 100 next week, possibly pushing it from its present No. 8 position to the top 5, becoming SZA’s second song to do so.
