Justine Bateman has voiced her strong disapproval of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s involvement in the recent Los Angeles wildfires rescue efforts, calling them “disaster tourists” and accusing them of using the crisis for a “photo op.” In a post on her X account, the Family Ties star expressed her frustration, asking, “Are they politicians now?” She criticized their presence at the scene, pointing out that they don’t live in the area and are simply “touring the damage.”
Bateman’s remarks were in stark contrast to the positive reception the couple received from local officials. Mayor Victor M. Gordo praised the Duke and Duchess for their generosity, noting their efforts to meet with first responders and victims of the Palisades fire. Gordo also shared a touching moment when Prince Harry was seen getting a donut for a fire victim.
While Bateman viewed their actions as opportunistic, the local community seemed to appreciate the royal couple’s support during this difficult time, especially as the fires have forced over 30,000 people to evacuate.
