After her marriage to Anurag Kashyap ended ten years ago, Kalki Koechlin has talked candidly about how her life abruptly became challenging.
In a recent interview, the actor talked about the difficult times and stated that the main thing that bothered her was that no one was willing to rent out a property to her as a single woman.
In an interview with the All About Eve YouTube channel on AfterHours, Kalki recounted how her career was flourishing while her personal life was struggling. “Those two films, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, were available when Anurag and I got divorced.”
The actor said, “Then there’s this divorce.” Between 2011 and 2015, Kalki and Anurag were married. They split up late in 2013. The actor claimed that after the separation and after the divorce, she was unable to locate a place to live in Mumbai. She recalls.
“Then I couldn’t find anywhere to live. Nobody would rent me a house in Mumbai as a single woman. I was like, “I’m famous.” You want to snap selfies with me, but you won’t offer me a house.”
Kalki last appeared on screen in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, a 2023 Netflix movie, in a supporting part. In the same year, she performed a unique dance piece in Sam Bahadur.
