Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s bodyguard has been imprisoned from his native town in Karnataka on charges of allegedly deceiving a woman in Mumbai on the vow of taking the plunge with her, police said.
“A team of Mumbai police came here yesterday (Saturday) and arrested Kumar Hegde from Heggadahalli in Mandya,” a police officer said.
Kumar had become close with the complainant eight years ago. It is said that he had proposed to marry her in June and she had given her nod. Later, it is alleged, that he forcibly manipulated her sexually.However, he fled Mumbai and began living in Heggadahalli, his native village,
The lady said in her complaint filed in D N Nagar police station in the Andheri suburb that Kumar had collected Rs 50,000 from her on April 27 by alleging that his mother had passed away. Once he reached the complaints place, he switched off the phone, she stated.
Based on the complaint made by the lady, who is a makeup artist by profession, a case was booked against Hegde under Indian Penal Code section 376 about rape and 420 (cheating), a report by a news agency stated.
Based on the said complaint, the Mumbai police were scouting for Kumar Hegde. After they gathered information that he was in Heggadahalli, they arrived there and took him into custody. He was produced in the JMFC court at K R Pet before taking him to Mumbai.
