Kantara Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty, keeps smashing records every day it is shown in theaters. The first Kantara film’s lifetime earnings have been surpassed by the Kannada period action movie, which has now earned over 400 crore globally.
Especially in India, Kantara Chapter 1 had a fantastic first weekend. Since then, it has maintained that momentum throughout the week, displaying only a slight decline on Monday before rising again on Tuesday. In its six days at the box office, the movie has made ₹290.25 crore net (₹348 crore gross) in India thus far.
Although it hasn’t yet reached the same level of sales as the Indian market, Kantara Chapter 1 has performed admirably outside. The movie has made over $7 million in foreign regions in its first six days of release. With a few days left in its first week at the ticket window, this brings its total worldwide collection to ₹414 crore.
Kantara Chapter 1 exceeded KGF Chapter 1’s lifetime collection on Sunday. It also overtook the original Kantara on Tuesday. Kantara Chapter 1 has now eclipsed the 2022 sleeper hit’s global earnings of ₹408 crore. It is currently the second-highest-grossing Kannada movie ever, with KGF Chapter 1 (₹1250 crore) coming in first.
On Tuesday, Kantara Chapter 1 also surpassed the lifetime totals of other recent blockbusters, such as the Bollywood horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (₹411 crore) and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram (₹413 crore). Now, it could become the first Indian movie to gross above ₹1000 crore this year.
Kantara Chapter 1 is a prelude to the 2022 sleeper smash Kantara, and it was written and directed by Rishab Shetty. It depicts the conflict between the people of Kantara and a neighboring kingdom that seeks to seize their resources and territories, and is set a millennium before the events of the previous movie.
In addition to Rishab, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah play key parts in the historical action drama. Fans and critics alike have given Kantara Chapter 1 excellent reviews.
