Kanye West has made a strong public plea for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ release from prison, taking to social media to express his frustration over the music mogul’s situation. Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, as he awaits trial on serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering.
On Thursday night, West posted a bold statement on X (formerly Twitter), simply writing, “FREE PUFF” in all caps. He then went on to criticize celebrities for staying silent, calling them out for not defending Combs in his time of need.
“ALL THESE CELEBRITY N—-S AND BITCHES IS P—Y YALL A WATCH OUR BROTHER ROT AND NEVER SAY S–T.”
West also compared Combs’ situation to Chris Brown, referencing the backlash the singer has faced over the years.
“WE ALL WATCHED THEM TRY TO CANCEL CHRIS BROWN AND AINT NOBODY DO NOTHING,” he wrote, adding that he regrets not speaking up sooner.
He ended his post with a reference to his new song, Wheels Fall Off, emphasizing his loyalty to Brown and Combs.
In addition to his social media posts, West shared an Instagram video of himself on a FaceTime call with Combs’ son, Christian “King” Combs. The 26-year-old appeared to be in good spirits, smiling, but his voice was not heard in the clip.
In his caption, West shifted the focus to the broader impact of incarceration on families, particularly in the Black community.
“FOR EVERY SON WHO DAD IS LOCKED UP WRITE OR WRONG I WANT YALL TO LISTEN TO DAVE CHAPPELLES JOKES VERY CLOSE THIS TIME.”
“LETS SEE HOW FUNNY IT GETS WHEN FAMILIES ARE SEPARATED ESPECIALLY BLACK FAMILIES.”
Combs is facing serious charges, and his bail has been denied as he awaits trial in May. Last Thursday, prosecutors introduced new allegations, claiming that two additional women were coerced into engaging in commercial sex acts.
Combs’ legal team strongly denies these accusations. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, dismissed the prosecution’s latest claims as flawed.
“The latest Indictment contains no new offenses. The government has added the ridiculous theory that two of Mr. Combs’ former girlfriends were not girlfriends at all but were prostitutes.”
