Kanye West reveals how an incident with his son Saint, 9, inspired the title of the upcoming album Bully

Kanye West is giving credit to his 9-year-old son, Saint, for inspiring the title of his upcoming album, Bully.

In a recent chat with rapper Justin Laboy, West shared how a moment with Saint during playtime sparked the idea for the album’s name. According to West, Saint kicked another child, and when asked why he did it, he casually responded, “Because he’s weak.” That response took Kanye by surprise, making him reflect on the nature of bullying and ultimately leading to the album’s title.

“My son [Saint] was playing with another kid, and then he kicked him,” Kanye explained. “I asked him, ‘Why’d you do that?’ and he said, ‘Because he’s weak.’ I was like, ‘This man is really a bully.'”

Bully is set to drop on June 15, 2025—the same day Kanye’s daughter, North, turns 11. This marks his first full-length album in over three years. West shares four kids with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian—North, 11; Saint, 9; Chicago, 7; and Psalm, 5.

Despite their 2021 divorce, Kardashian and West have managed to co-parent their children, and Kanye remains actively involved in their lives. Back in September, during a Vultures 2 listening event in Hainan, China, Kanye brought his kids on stage, where they held hands, waved to the crowd, and danced alongside him. A video of the moment later went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, North has been open about her admiration for her father, especially when it comes to style. In an October interview with Interview Magazine, she shared that her fashion sense is inspired by a mix of streetwear, ‘90s aesthetics, and her dad’s influence. “I like streetwear and ‘90s. Tyler, the Creator; my dad; me!” she said.

With Bully on the way, Kanye is once again making headlines—this time with an album inspired by a surprising parenting moment.
