Filmmaker Karan Johar took a moment to express his pride and happiness as Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji won big at the 71st National Film Awards. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Karan shared film posters and a nostalgic throwback photo with the actors, calling their win a “full circle moment.”
Shah Rukh Khan was named Best Actor for his role in Jawan, while Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. Karan poured his heart out in a long caption, celebrating both stars whom he has shared a long journey with in the film industry.
“Taking a pause in our celebrations to celebrate my friends for their cinema!!! @iamsrk bhai….this has been 33 years in the making and I can’t help but beam with pride,” he wrote, praising Shah Rukh’s decades-long impact on Indian cinema. Karan called SRK’s screen presence and unique charm unmatched and added, “Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.”
For Rani, he penned an equally emotional message: “My dearest Rani…truly the queen of every screen she is in. Your performance hit everyone like a punch in the gut…” He also gave a special mention to the production house Emmay Entertainment and their team for backing the film.
Interestingly, Karan recalled how his own National Award journey began with Shah Rukh and Rani for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which also starred Kajol. He wrote, “P.s – fun fact!! I won my first national award with these two & Kajol by my side… If this is not full circle, what is.”
