Filmmaker Karan Johar has expressed satisfaction over finally collaborating with actor Kartik Aaryan on Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, signalling a fresh start after a previously stalled association. Speaking at the trailer launch of the film on Thursday, Johar described the experience as rewarding and said the partnership unfolded without hurdles this time around.
Johar and Aaryan were earlier attached to Dostana 2, a project that never materialised amid reports of creative differences. The filmmaker later confirmed that the film would be recast, leading to speculation about a professional fallout. With Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, the two appear to have moved past that chapter. Johar even referred to the collaboration as “the beginning of a new Dostana,” underlining the significance of their reunion.
Directed by Sameer Vidwans, known for Satyaprem Ki Katha, the film also stars Ananya Panday. Johar praised the on-set dynamic between the leads, noting that Aaryan and Panday’s pairing has started on a positive note following their earlier success together. He added that completing and releasing the film felt especially gratifying.
Aaryan echoed the sentiment, joking that simply finishing the project was an achievement in itself. He said he was pleased that both he and Johar could finally see a film through to release. In a lighter moment, Johar playfully described the film as a coming together of “nepo papa, nepo baby and outsider,” celebrating the industry’s diverse mix.
Johar also acknowledged Panday’s growth as an actor and commended Aaryan’s dedication to his craft, calling his commitment to cinema impressive.
