Karim Benzema called up for France’s EURO 2020 squad

Karim Benzema has been included in France’s squad for the upcoming EURO 2020, this is the first time in more than five years that he has been called up for international duties. He is still facing trials related to alleged blackmailing, that happened over five years ago.

The Real Madrid star hasn’t featured for France since his involvement in the Mathieu Valbuena sex tape scandal. He had also accused Deschamps of bowing down to the pressure of a racist part of France when he left him out of the squad.

When this scandal happened, Karim Benzema faced a lot of criticism from the media and the French prime minister as well, who said that he didn’t deserve a place in the national team. Benzema made it clear that he was not involved in it and he cleared his thoughts with Deschamps after which he was involved in the squad.

Benzema never lost the hope that he would play for France again as he thought he could bring something to the team, he has played for France 81 times and has 27 goals too. His name. Now he will be joining Mbappe and Griezmann in the front three and that makes the French attack more ferocious.

The EURO 2020 will kick off on June 11 after a delay due to the pandemic. France is in Group F along with Hungary, Portugal, and Germany.
