Katy Perry recently reminisced about a magical experience she had while attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia in February 2024. For the first time, Perry got to witness Swift perform live, and she couldn’t help but gush about the experience. During an interview on Capital FM, Perry shared how she made sure to catch Swift’s show while in Sydney, despite having only one day off. “I had one day off before the show and I was like, ‘Hey, girl, I’m gonna come to this show,'” Perry said, expressing her excitement.
She was touched by the warm and welcoming atmosphere at the concert, particularly the strong sense of community among Swift’s fans, the Swifties. Many of them even gifted Perry friendship bracelets, with Rita Ora sending one her way as well. “I loved it. It’s just like a community—it’s an adorable, sweet community,” Perry added.
The night became even more special when Perry shared a backstage moment with Swift, marking their first selfie together. Perry later posted the selfie on Instagram, sharing her admiration for her old friend, captioning it, “Got to see an old friend shine tonight.”
This reunion marked another heartwarming chapter in the two pop stars’ journey of reconciliation. After years of rumored tension, the two famously made amends in 2018 when Perry sent Swift an olive branch as a gesture of peace. Their friendship fully blossomed after Perry appeared in Swift’s 2019 You Need to Calm Down music video, cementing their renewed bond.
