Keinemusik, a well-known electronic music collective based in Berlin, made a powerful India debut on March 27 in Mumbai, gradually building up to a full-fledged audience moment. The show drew together EDM aficionados because it did not hurry what began as a solid, groove-led introduction, gradually drawing the audience in before opening out into something significantly more wide and high-energy.
The trio (&ME, Rampa, and Adam Port) stuck to their slow-burn style, layering melodic house across hours rather than chasing fast peaks. That technique paid off, as the energy increased without disrupting the flow. The scale was easily visible at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
The open arena was packed, but the Kloud layout kept things moving, putting the artists in the crowd and easing the typical stage divide. Midway through, the set took a turn that definitely resonated with the Mumbai audience. Along with songs like Move, Say What, and The Rapture Pt. III, the group incorporated Bollywood hits Joote Do Paise Lo (Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, 1994) and Le Gayi (Dil Toh Pagal Hai, 1997), giving the worldwide show a local flavor.
As the b’wood fever set in, the throng began singing Le gayi le gaye and Joote do paise lo. It didn’t feel like a diversion as the audience leaned in, and the excitement increased almost immediately. Some members of the audience were observed waving Indian flags, expressing their excitement for the band’s India debut.
The night also featured a number of familiar celebrities, including actresses Bhumi Pednekar, Neha Sharma, Aamir Khan, Aadar Jain and wife Alekha Advani, Sonal Chauhan, and singer AP Dhillon, among others.
