Kerala Governor signs ordinance compelling 5 years imprisonment to people denunciating on social media

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan signed an ordinance to amend the 2011 Kerala Police Act (KPA) restricting people who misuse freedom of speech on social media for abusing women and children. The state cabinet in October, decided to make additions to the law, with section 118 -A being adjoined. This amendment states a fine of Rs 10,000 and five years imprisonment or both for people violating the law with producing or publishing disparaging remarks through any means of communication on social media.
