Khushi Kapoor, who made her Bollywood debut in 2023 with The Archies, might soon step into her late mother Sridevi’s legacy. During a recent media interaction at an award function, filmmaker Boney Kapoor hinted that his younger daughter could be cast in the sequel to Mom (2017), Sridevi’s final Hindi film.
Speaking about his daughter’s budding career, Boney Kapoor shared, “I have watched all of Khushi’s films Archies, Loveyapa, and Nadaaniyan. I am planning a film with her after No Entry. It could be Mom 2. She is trying to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi succeed at the same level of perfection.”
Khushi Kapoor’s career has been a mix of praise and criticism. While she impressed audiences with her versatility in Loveyapa alongside Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, her performance in Nadaaniyan which marked Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut received harsh backlash.
Following Boney Kapoor’s announcement, social media reactions have been largely negative. One user commented, “She can’t act, sorry…,” while another wrote, “For God’s sake, SHE!! CANNOT!! ACT!!!!” Many fans expressed a preference for Khushi’s elder sister, Janhvi Kapoor, to take on the role instead. “Janhvi would have been a better choice,” one user remarked, while another pleaded, “Love her but she cannot act at all! Please cast Janhvi.”
Despite the mixed reactions, it remains to be seen whether Khushi Kapoor can carry forward her mother’s cinematic legacy in Mom 2.
