Kim Jong Un has taken “solemn oaths to tug North Korea out of deepening economic troubles at the end of the four-day meeting of the ruling party, as he confessed about food shortages and requested officials to organize for dialogue and confrontation with the US, state media as reported by KCNA on Saturday.
Kim Jong Un mentioned that the party will surely break head-on the difficulties lying within the way of the revolution, the Korean Central press agency reported.
Kim Jong Un conducted a four-day plenary meeting with the ruling Workers’ Party’s Central Committee, which was started on Tuesday. Besides this, Kim Jong Un enjoin his government to organize for dialogue and confrontation with the US , which is been urged by North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions and return to talks.
Kim involved measures to tackle the “tense” food situation, blaming the coronavirus pandemic and last year’s typhoons. Kim Jong Un appointed new members of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s powerful politburo and reinforced the discipline within the party ranks. Some members in the leadership expressed that repentance for failing to measure up with the expectations. This came after Kim admitted the “serious problems” with their lifestyle, KCNA said, without giving any other elaboration.
The central committee’s politburo also elected Thae Hyong Chol, as vice chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, as a replacement member, and U Sang Chol, as a politician at the party’s Central Auditing Commission, as an alternate member.
