King Charles has finally broken his silence and told us if he prefers ‘Barbie’ to ‘Oppenheimer’

King Charles, despite his busy royal schedule, apparently makes time to enjoy films, and he’s been vocal about his admiration for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. During a recent meeting with Nolan and his wife, Emma Thomas, after receiving their knighthoods and damehoods for contributions to film, the king revealed that he had watched Oppenheimer and thoroughly enjoyed it. According to Thomas, Charles’s praise was “very gratifying,” signaling that the monarch is indeed a fan of Nolan’s work.

Given that Oppenheimer was universally acclaimed and won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, it’s no surprise that the king enjoyed it. The film’s portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the nuclear bomb struck a chord with many, and its success solidified its place as one of the cultural milestones of the 2020s. Nolan’s impressive body of work, including Dunkirk, Inception, and The Dark Knight trilogy, has earned widespread acclaim, so it’s interesting to imagine what King Charles might think of those films too.

While it’s confirmed that the king is a fan of Oppenheimer, there’s still mystery surrounding whether he’s watched Barbie—the other film that dominated the summer of 2023. Barbie was a huge commercial success, grossing $1.45 billion globally, and earned a lot of praise for its creativity. Although it’s hard to picture the monarch being drawn to a film about the iconic doll, we can’t rule it out entirely. Maybe, just maybe, he enjoyed Barbie as well.

Either way, it’s clear that King Charles has good taste in films, as evidenced by his praise for Oppenheimer, making him firmly on Team Oppenheimer in the Barbenheimer debate!
